I'm no longer the only beauty-product tester in my house. My husband, by virtue of living for years with a beauty editor, has become a discerning tester. Most guys, when asked what they think about a face scrub or shampoo, might grunt "fine" or "too girly." Not Grady, who works at GQ. He differentiates between the harshness and softness of exfoliating beads, comments on whether a scent is too flowery or not quite woodsy enough, complains about a good product's bad bottle design and thinks up new uses for things. He's now doing series of product reviews—from the male perspective, of course—on gq.com.

Grady calls me his beauty Yoda—and learning, clearly he is: In his most recent post, he wrote about the convenience of Dermalogica's sunscreen wipes for a short crack-of-dawn jog, but he gave this caveat: On days you plan to spend more than half-hour in the sun, you need a higher SPF. He couldn't be more right: It's a message I—and any beauty editor worth her salt (or lipstick)—will pound into the head of anyone who will listen. These are the higher-SPF sunscreens we're loving at Allure now.

He recently expressed his love for Molton Brown's Protecting Vitamin Lipsaver. (He also taught me something: it's designed for men. I had no idea, because I use it regularly at night, too). Now, if you're like me, you might want more in your daytime balm than just chap-fighting ingredients. These offer multiple benefits:

Murad Energizing Pomegranate Lip Protector: Perfect for when you want a high-gloss balm. Plus, it has a slightly fruity (delicious) taste, and a pretty pinkish tone that rosies up your natural lip color ever so subtly.

Yves Saint Laurent Gloss Volupté: I'm a big fan—HUGE fan. These gloss sticks come in slim, chic gold tubes, and the balm-y texture give the nicest sheer color. My favorites are #2 (Chilled Raspberry), #3 (Frozen Cherry), and #7 (Tangy Orange, shown above) because they're the perfect way to wear a bold lip color if you're not ready for an intense lipstick.

Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited: This is actually a lipstick, but if you closed your eyes and slicked, you'd think it was a balm—it glides on that softly and smoothly. Among the many shade options, there are sheers, opaques, brights, and neutrals. I'm feeling #355 now: rich violet pink.

He's now doing a series of product reviews—from the male perspective, of course—on gq.com.

On his most recent blog, Grady wrote about the compliments he gets when he wears Chanel's Allure Homme Édition Blanche.

Now, perfumers would say that you should wear a fragrance for yourself, something that you love and adore—and that's true, sure. But it's nice when you also find one that other people go nuts over. So check out these women's scents that I've found are sure to garner a nice word—even complete strangers have been known to pipe up after catching a whiff.

Fresh and prettily floral: Kai Perfume Oil, a roll-on with tropical white flowers including gardenia.

Warm and sensual: Narciso Rodriguez for Her, which blends amber, woods, musk, vanilla, and honey flower.

Happy and citrusy: Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue, a mix of Sicilian citron and Granny Smith apple.

Soft and powdery: Prada Infusion d'Iris, with (obviously) iris, plus a top note of Sicilian mandarin.

Pure sex: Frédéric Malle Carnal Flower, with gobs of delicious tuberose and dabs of coconut and musk.
